Pediatric Eye Exams
Here at Bennett Vision, we are proud to offer pediatric eye examinations. Children should have their first eye exam around the age of six months. If the first exam finds that their eyes are healthy, they may not need another appointment until they are between the ages of two and three.
Although many schools offer vision screenings, they are not comprehensive eye exams and will not check the health of the eyes. They often are only screening for problems with distance vision, but most children are far-sighted affecting their ability to focus at near. This can impede learning to read and write. For this reason, you should schedule yearly examinations to ensure that your child’s eyes are healthy and that he or she can see clearly both at distance and near.
